Me and my overweight
Hey all,
As you'll probably know I'm still fighting my overweight. Yesterday I happened to see the Tyra Show here in the Netherlands and they had an episode about overweight. There was this coach, Jorge (don't know his last name) and he has written a book with his 3-hours diet. This means you have to eat every three hours to keep your bloodsugar at a good point. And of course you must not eat fast food, candy and more like that. Know, you have to eat healthy. He stated it's not a diet like many other diets where you have to eat certain things and don't eat other things based on some theory. No, this is about changing your lifestyle and thus your eating habits. I've given it a thought and I think this may indeed work. That's why I'll give it a try. Seen the hours I'm usually getting up this would mean the following schedule for me:
Weekends:
07:30h (breakfast)
10:30h (eat something, like a part of my lunch)
13:30h (eat something, like a part of my lunch)
16:30h (eat something, like an apple)
19:30h (diner)
Rest of the week:
06:00h (breakfast)
09:00h (eat something, like part of my lunch)
12:00h (eat something, like part of my lunch)
15:00h (eat something, like an apple)
18:00h (diner)
I think I'm gonna try this schedule for a month. Let's see if I can keep up with it. And if it works (even if it's just a little bit).
If I can rely on the pictures of the guests in the show I could loose a pretty amount of weight in about six months and later on I could reach my ideal weight. Well, for now I just hope to have lost a few kilo's in about a month. That would be nice.
Lucky for me I have another week for a holiday, so that's a good time to try it out. After the coming week I'll have a full week of classes (to become a job coach) so I'm not sure if I'll be able to follow the schedule. I'll see about that. After that week I'll continue my job again, so that's going to be the real test. Can I keep up then? I hope so!
I'll keep you posted! Talk to you later!

Hey John,
Thanks for the tip. For now, though, I think I'll stick with 3-hours system. I'll just spread my eating over this system. Up until now it seems to work in terms of not being hungry in the breaks. Therefore I'm not eating candy during these breaks. And since I can hardly eat any fruit (only one type of apple) due to a food allergy this seems to be a fine way to do it. I've tried counting calories before, but that didn't work for me. Oh well, I'll just see :)
Thanks anyway!

This diet sounds like another gimmic.
You should try the only weight loss plan that is guaranteed to work. I've done it and lost almost 40 pounds. Its called diet and exercise.
And by diet I mean calorie restriction.
And by exercise, I mean go for a walk every day.
Its that easy. I'm 6' tall, used to be 212, now am 175. All because I walked for an hour a day and tried to eat 500 calories less than my previous intake. I've lost about 2 lbs a week without having to starve myself or anything. I think that your eat every 3 hours sounds like a joke. Because you could eaisly eat tons of needless calories in that time.
I recommend you visit this site: www.nhlbi.gov. This is the US government site for the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute. These are the world's best sceintists, not jackasses trying to sell a book on TV. The site is pretty ghetto, but it offers the same message I'm telling you. If you eat 3,500 calories you will gain a pound, if you burn/do not eat 3,500 calories you will lose a pound. Its that simple.
It may be hard to keep track of your calorie intake, it was for me. So visit fitday.com. Its a free calorie counting site.
Good luck.
